Signature Programs

All of our service programs provide the opportunity for our members to interact with the community on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. We have developed three (3) signature programs: Forum Friends, BookSmart and a pilot program, Baxter the Bookworm. These are programs that are solely supported by CWJF without the help of other organizations. The other service programs are joint efforts with community organizations such as Northwest Assistance Ministries and Interfaith of The Woodlands.

  • Baxter the Bookworm –  is an advocacy reading program for preschoolers.  Baxter the Bookworm is “master of ceremonies”.  A CWJF volunteer reads a book to the children and dresses as a character in the book.  The children make a simple craft and are provided a snack. A copy of the book read is given as a door prize.
  • BookSmart - CWJF members visit Title I schools and present a play for second-grade students. The play acts out the book, Bubba, the Cowboy Prince, and each student is presented with a hard back copy of the book. The goal is to enhance an interest in reading for students and provide them a copy of their very own book.
  • Forum Friends - This is a program for senior citizens in which we provide lunch, entertainment and fellowship once a month at each of the following locations: Forum Friends Lakewood, Forum Friends Tomball, Forum Friends Woodlands and Forum Friends Harvestwood. Through these programs,  we serve and entertain over 500 seniors each month.

F.A.S.T. Friends (Forum And Seniors Together) — Although it is not designated as a signature program, the F.A.S.T. Friends program is also solely supported by CWJF without the help of other organizations.  Members reach out into the community to help senior citizens on a one-to-one basis.  Individual interaction with a senior can include visits, lunches, cards, phone calls, church programs and regular group socials.
